Custom Home Builder in Toronto

Building a new home on your own lot is the biggest project most families ever take on. At Ecocor Construction, we have been designing and building in Toronto since 2016, and we bring the same hands-on approach to every custom home: one team, one point of contact, and a clear plan from the first sketch to the final walkthrough. With 157+ completed projects and 19+ industry awards, we know what it takes to turn a Toronto lot into the home you have in mind.

Design-build, with the right people at the table

A custom home is never the work of one trade. We collaborate with architects and interior designers, either professionals you already work with or ones we recommend, so the design, the drawings and the construction stay aligned. Because Ecocor manages the build side from day one, we can flag cost, structure and buildability issues while the design is still on paper, when changes are cheap, instead of on site, when they are not.

How a custom home comes together

1. Consultation and feasibility. We walk your lot, talk through how you want to live, and look at what your property’s zoning is likely to allow before you commit to a design.

2. Design and drawings. Working with your architect and designer, we help shape layouts, finishes and materials around a realistic budget.

3. Permits and approvals. New homes in Toronto need a City of Toronto building permit. Some projects also need a minor variance from the Committee of Adjustment, or a permit to injure or remove a protected tree. We plan these steps into the schedule from the start so there are no surprises.

4. Construction. Our crews and trusted trades build to the Ontario Building Code, with regular updates so you always know where your project stands.

5. Walkthrough and handover. We go through a detailed checklist with you, confirm every required inspection is complete, and make sure you are happy with the result.

Homes built for how you live

Every custom home we build is different. Some clients want an open main floor for entertaining, others need a main-floor bedroom for aging parents, a home office, or a basement with room for a future secondary unit. Planning for these needs at the design stage costs far less than adding them later. If you are thinking about rental income or multigenerational living, ask us about building a secondary unit, laneway suite or multiplex instead of, or alongside, a single-family home.

Serving Toronto and the GTA

Frequently asked questions

Do you have in-house architects?

No. We collaborate with independent architects and interior designers. You can bring your own, or we can introduce you to professionals we have worked with. Either way, Ecocor coordinates the design with the build.

Can you build on a lot I already own?

Yes. Most of our custom homes are built on lots our clients already own, often after an older house is taken down.

Do I need a building permit for a new custom home in Toronto?

Yes. A new home needs a City of Toronto building permit. Depending on your lot, you may also need Committee of Adjustment approval or a tree permit. We help you plan for these steps.

How much does a custom home cost?

It depends on size, design, site conditions and finishes. We give you a budget based on your actual plans during the design stage.
